The Sony Ericsson Open
After debuting just months before, in late 2009, Dolce Shot is proud to be the official Energy Shot at the Sony Ericsson Open this year, 2010. The tournament is an annual tennis tournament held in Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida. An ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event, the 12-day tournament draws over 250,000 attendees and is the world’s fifth-largest tennis tournament.

The event can boast such sponsor representation as Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire, Heineken, Starbucks, Veuve Clique, Ben & Jerry’s, and LAN Chile. This year Dolce Shot came on as a new sponsor. The visitor response was unanimous, and Dolce Shot made a huge splash at the event. With all its attention, and daily growing visitor traffic, the Dolce Shot pavilion also hosted WQAM’s coverage of the event with Sid Rosenberg. Bringing such interviewees as Mary Joe Fernandez, tennis superstar, and New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma, Dolce Shot was proud to introduce it’s product line to these incredible athletes.

Dolce Shot’s participation in the event went well beyond sponsorship. The company’s ethics and community activism drive it’s actions:

“we’re committed to educating fans about the benefits of our brand. Needless to say, this requires time, effort, and a willingness to make an investment, in the fans themselves. We began giving the event staff bottles of the product. They were the only individuals onsite before sunrise, and there well after,” said Mario Melton, brand owner.

As the event continued, the Dolce Shot exhibition site received increasing amounts of patrons by the hour. Soon enough the team realized the staff were raving about it.

“Now, it’s a successful initiative when you have word-of-mouth generated amongst your core fans. It’s a hell of thing however, when an entire other group of fans arises and begins to spread your message. We are incredibly proud of our fans and their involvement with Dolce Shot,” said Olivia Smart, a 21 year old field representative for the brand.

From the Sony Ericsson Open many new opportunities presented themselves to the company. One example leads to Chile. Having met the Dolce Shot team and brand managers, a business development firm in Chile has subsequently requested and been approved to bring Dolce Shot as a new product category to Chile.
